My goodness, has anyone seen what PBS has done this time? How a publicly funded station gets away with the garbage they air is beyond me. They should not have any bias in their broadcasts, they are PUBLICLY funded. But I can't help thinking they are the most liberal station on TV based on what they continue to show. Between Bill Moyer and now this junk they are calling a 'documentary' on WWII, I swear, they are really pushing the limit. Has anyone seen this documentary or heard about it? Apparently PBS considers the US to be just as guilty as the Nazis. Allow me to enlighten some of you as to what really happened. First of all, the US did imprison Japanese-Americans in internment camps, but under whose orders? Well, I'll make it easy and just tell you-the most liberal president ever, Franklin D. Roosevelt! And yes, we did drop atomic bombs on two cities in Japan, and many innocent lives were unfortunately lost. However, had we not dropped the bombs, the war with Japan would have raged on for years and we would have lost hundreds of thousands of American soldiers. These people were suicide bombing us, they went to the extreme and even though we warned them to surrendered before the first bomb AND before the second bomb, they would not. It is no one's fault but their own and honestly, I can't feel too bad about it because those who lived during WWII welcomed the end of the war and approved of these measures. So yes, it was drastic, but we were not killing our own citizens because they were mentally or physically handicapped. Nor did we incinerate people when they were still breathing. Jews, Poles, Slovaks, gypsies, disabled, young, old, it didn't matter. If you stood in the way of the ideal, you were doomed. If the Nazis just shot you and left, you were lucky. Unfortunately, much of our modern knowledge of the human body comes from the twisted 'experiments' the Nazi doctors preformed on innocent victims. Pregnant women (especially those pregnant with twins) had it the worst, but I am not going into that because it makes me cringe... The point of this is that in NO WAY can we be likened to such scum, to heartless monsters that took pleasure from so much pain. Just the idea of this is disturbing and PBS should be forced to apologize to all Americans for even insinuating this. They should be ashamed, anyone who had a part in this should be absolutely ashamed of themself. The Americans that lived and went without and those who died fighting for our & others' freedoms during WWII were the greatest generation of Americans that have ever been, and to disgrace them in this manner is appalling. I feel bad and I had nothing to do with this garbage! Anyway, it's easy to look back on history and say we could have done this differently or handled that better, but at what cost? How much are we really willing to sacrifice? America is the greatest country in the world, I think some of us should act like they believe that a little more.
